Its name has taken its current form with the transformation of the word Güllüaş into Güllaça over time. The dessert, which has this name due to the presence of rose water in it, can also be easily made at home. Güllaç, a milky dessert, is a dessert identified with the months of Ramadan. It is taken as a gift to the houses visited as guests in Ramadan.

Ingredients in Güllaç
Güllaç contains milk, sugar, phyllo, rose water, powdered sugar, walnuts, peanuts, and pomegranate seeds. Güllaç leaf or Güllaç phyllo can be bought ready-made or made at home.

Güllaç easy recipe
Milk and sugar are mixed and boiled. After it cools down a bit, rose water is added to the mixture. Güllaç leaves are cut into small pieces. Leaves are laid on the surface of a deep bowl and the leaves are wetted by pouring a milky mixture on it. This is continued until the leaves of Güllaç are finished. After all the leaves are soaked, they are kept at room temperature for 10 minutes. Walnuts, pomegranate, powdered pistachios are optionally added to the sliced ​​dessert. It is ready to eat after resting in the refrigerator for a while.

History of Güllaç
Güllaç has been one of the traditional desserts of Turkish cuisine since the 1400s. In Arif Bilgin's book Ottoman Palace Cuisine, it is said that Güllaç entered the Ottoman palace in 1489. Güllaç, which is said to have been first made in the palace by Kastamonu Ali Usta, is also served as Güllaç baklava in Kastamonu.
